Improve Your Life Today – The 7 most popular types of Home Massage – Part II

Carrying on from last week’s post listed below are the 4 remaining most popular home massages, which is your favourite?

  1. Deep Tissue Massage

A Deep Tissue massage focuses on muscles and tissue that are deep within your body. The therapist will use slow deliberate strokes on areas that are sore or painful. Deep Tissue Massage is used to help with loosening tight or sore muscles. You can sometimes feel sore a few days after receiving a deep tissue massage.

  1. Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu original came from Japan and the word Shiatsu in Japanese means “finger pressure”. A shiatsu therapist will use finger pressure on areas of your body in a rhythmic fashion. Pressure is held for 2 or more seconds to assist with the flow of energy within the body. A Shiatsu massage can still be relaxing but without the soreness of a Deep Tissue Massage.

  1. Thai Massage

A Thai massage is very similar to a Shiatsu massage in that pressure is used on certain points of the body. As you lie face down the Thai Massage therapist will move over your body almost as if they are hovering above you, stretching, putting pressure whilst transferring their weight from one arm to a leg. If you have never received a Thai massage I would strongly recommend receiving one. You will feel incredibility invigorated.

  1. Reflexology Massage

When you mentioned Reflexology you might immediately think of “foot massage”. Reflexology is much more than just a foot massage. A therapist will use their hands and one or more wooden tools to assist them when putting pressure on the recipient’s hands or feet. Reflexology involves putting pressure on certain parts of the foot or hands that relate to particular organs or systems within the body. A reflexology massage can be a very relaxing experience.

Improve Your Life Today – The 7 Most Popular Types of Home Massage – Part I

  1. Aromatherapy Massage

This is a very popular type of massage where the therapist selects different essential oils that are relaxing, soothing, energising and smell rather lovely. An aromatherapy massage is an ideal way to receive a home massage particularly if you’re seeking a relaxing, gentle therapeutic massage.

  1. Swedish Massage

This type of massage is very common and was pioneered by a Swedish physiologist Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839) at the University of Stockholm. You may have not even realised you were receiving a Swedish style massage because the massage therapist simply uses long smooth strokes, kneading and round movements on the upper layers of your muscle using a massage oil.

  1. Hot Stone Massage

My favourite type of massage, providing the stones are not too hot! Hot Stone Massage is a lovely relaxing type of massage where smooth heated stones are placed on certain points of the body to relax tightened muscles and balance the energy flows in the body. A Hot stone massage is ideal for recipients who want a lighter massage but want to release the tension in their muscles.

All three types of massage can be requested for a home massage. The remaining 4 Most Popular Massages will be outlined in our blog next week.

Improve Your Life Today – Home Massage Awkward Questions

Have you ever contacted a provider by telephone to arrange a home massage? Seems pretty straightforward really, you’d ask “I’d like to arrange a home massage”.

Am I right in thinking that if you’re male and you want a massage with a professionally qualified and insured therapist you would be flexible in whether the therapist is male or female?

Does it seem odd when a male potential client inquiring about a home massage insists that the therapist is a good looking female therapist? What is the best way to counter that inquiry without upsetting the potential client?

That potential client can also be a female requesting a male only therapist.

Is it OK to be blunt and say we provide professional “non-sexual” massages, I presume you are seeking a professional non-sexual massage?

At this point the potential client either puts the phone down, there is silence on the phone or they say they called the wrong number!

If you have different way of dealing with this type of query please let me know!

Improve Your Life Today – Christmas Gift Ideas

With 6 weeks till Christmas Day I thought it an opportune time to write about suitable Christmas Gifts for your love one.

I don’t know about you but I find it difficult to buy Christmas gifts and there’s so much tat in the shops this time of year.

I love enjoyable experiences, such as the time my husband and I came across a Trapeze set up at Melbourne Aquatic Center and decided to give it a go.

I think fun, relaxing experiences stay with you for the rest of your life.

So, coming back to Christmas, you could purchase a cinema voucher. What about a ballooning voucher or even simpler, a Gift Certificate from a well-known department store.

What about something totally different? How would your partner, male or female react if you purchased a voucher for a home massage? You could even buy yourself a home massage Voucher Christmas present.

No need for your partner to even leave home with a home massage voucher.

Improve Your Life Today – Book a Home Massage

How often do we take our health for granted? Eating too much of the wrong type of food, especially takeaway or pouring that extra glass of wine. The cost of takeaway food for you and your partner can easily total $30-$40, depending on the restaurant. How often do you eat out or order takeaway food?

Recently Choice Magazine annouced that on average Australians eat takeaway food 2½ times a week and 42% of Australians eat out at a restaurant 3 times a week.

That means the average Aussie could be spending between $75 & $100 per week on takeaway food.

You could have a home massage every week for the same price or alternate with your partner, and that’s much better for your Health than takeaway food.

As we age and tend to do less exercise eating the right type of food are important and so is massage.

Why not give takeaways a break this week and instead book a home massage for yourself or your partner.

Improve Your Life Today – Buy a Home Massage as a Gift

How great is it when someone takes the time out of the blue to give you something. It doesn’t have to be big in value or over the top. It’s just that you took the time to think of them.

It’s easy to switch off and only consider buying a gift for someone when it’s Father’s Day, or Mother’s Day or Valentines. How about the 362 days between?

We have husbands and wives’ that contact us on a regular basis asking to arrange a Home Massage for their partner. A number arrange regular weekly or fortnightly massage sessions for their partner.

Normally the therapist attends in the evening, from 6pm until 9pm. It’s such a lovely surprise to arrive home from work and find that your partner has arranged a Home Massage.
